Upper Register- Saul slaying Nahash and the Ammonites. The fleeing Ammonites are surrounded by the Israelite soldiers approaching from behind and emerging ahead from the city gate. Saul, indicated by a crown, slices into Nahash, who is also denoted by a crown.
Lower Register- Samuel anointing Saul after the overwhelming defeat of the Ammonites. Samuel sacrificing to the Lord as He gazes down upon His faithful servant.
