Description
Upper Register- The Levite transporting his wife's body on an ass, as the surrounding men express their sorrow and outrage. After his return to Ephraim, the Levite dismembers his wife's body into twelve parts to be distributed to the territories of Israel.
Lower Register- The Israelites battle the Benjamites to avenge the atrocious acts committed against the Levite's wife. The conflict rages for three days around the city of Gibeah, until the Israelites slay the Benjamites and destroy the city.
